The Clinical Protocol

• The Frequency: To honor the biological cycle of cellular remodeling, treatments are spaced 4–6 weeks apart. This allows the skin’s structural matrix to fully repair and synthesize new collagen.

• The Timeline: While a "post-treatment glow" is immediate, true structural transformation begins after the second session. A foundational series of 3 to 6 treatments is clinically recommended for significant remodeling of texture, scarring, and laxity.

Clinical Considerations

To ensure the highest standard of care, we do not perform microneedling on individuals with active acne breakouts, eczema or rosacea flares in the treatment area, or those currently using Accutane (must be off for 6 months). This procedure is also deferred during pregnancy.

History of Cold Sores (HSV): Microneedling can trigger a viral flare-up. If you have a history of cold sores, please consult your physician for a prophylactic antiviral to begin 2 days prior to treatment.

Diabetes: Microneedling is generally safe for diabetics with well-controlled blood sugar levels. However, caution is necessary, as diabetes can cause slower healing and higher infection risks. • The Long-Term Benefit: Consistency is key to preventative aging. Clinical evidence shows that with regular treatments, the targeted muscles "learn" to remain in a relaxed state. Over time, this can lead to muscle atrophy (slight thinning of the muscle), which often results in needing fewer units or experiencing longer intervals between your succeeding sessions.

• The Timeline: Results begin to settle within 3–5 days, with the full effect visible at 14 days. Treatments typically last 3–4 months.

Clinical Considerations

To ensure your safety, we do not perform wrinkle relaxer treatments on individuals who are currently pregnant or breastfeeding, known hypersensitivity to botulinum toxin or its ingredients, active infection at the injection site, or those with specific neuromuscular disorders (such as Myasthenia Gravis, Lambert-Eaton Syndrome or ALS). A full review of your medical history is required during your initial Good Faith Exam.

Medication Precautions: Certain medications can interact with neuromodulators, either by enhancing the muscle-relaxing effect or increasing the risk of bruising. Please disclose if you are currently taking:

• Aminoglycoside Antibiotics: (e.g., Gentamicin, Tobramycin, Neomycin). These can potentiate the effect of the toxin, leading to unpredictable muscle weakness. We recommend waiting 7 days after your last dose before treatment.

• Muscle Relaxants: Combining oral muscle relaxants with injectable neuromodulators can increase the risk of systemic weakness or a "heavy" feeling in the treated area.

• Anticoagulants & Antiplatelets: (e.g., Warfarin, Aspirin, Ibuprofen, Fish Oil). While not an absolute contraindication, these increase the risk of localized bruising and swelling. We recommend a consultation to discuss the timing of your treatment.

History of Cold Sores (HSV-1): While rare with neuromodulators, perioral treatments (such as a Lip Flip) involve minor needle trauma that may trigger a viral reactivation. If you are prone to frequent outbreaks, we recommend a prophylactic antiviral (such as Valacyclovir) starting 2 days prior to your appointment to ensure a seamless recovery.
